Creating a Sensory Grab Bag
Sensory differences are common for neurodivergent people, particularly for autistic, ADHDers, AuDHDers. Neurodivergent people can be both over-responsive (hyper-sensitive, or have aversions) and under-responsive (hypo-sensitive or sensory seeking) for each type of sensory input.
If you understand your own sensory differences and preferences, you can consider how you can use sensory strategies to increase or decrease your arousal, working towards ‘just right’ arousal. You can create a Sensory Grab Bag which contains all of these sensory strategies, so they are available when you need them.
In this workbook we will discuss how you can use your eight senses to regulate yourself. We will go through each sensory domain and consider different strategies you might like to try to increase or decrease your arousal levels. You can then add these strategies into your Grab Bag.
