This webinar is for psychological therapists, psychiatrists, and allied health professionals who work with children and young people, and who want to feel more confident adapting their practice for neurodivergent clients. Working across autism, ADHD, learning disabilities and other learning differences often calls for creative, flexible approaches — and even experienced clinicians can be left unsure where to start.
If you've found yourself wondering whether you're doing enough to connect, how to genuinely meet sensory, emotional or communication needs, or how to bring parents and caregivers meaningfully into the work, this session is designed for you.
We'll cover practical, evidence-based adjustments you can use straight away: communication tools that build understanding and trust, tailored techniques for emotional literacy and regulation, sensory-informed approaches to shaping the therapeutic environment, and ways to collaborate effectively with families so progress continues outside the room. Whether this area is new to you or something you're looking to deepen, you'll leave with concrete tools rather than general principles.
Led by Dr Siobhan Higgins, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Senior Clinical Tutor and Module Lead at the IoPPN, King's College London, where she teaches and supervises mental health professionals on adapting psychological therapy for neurodivergent children, young people and parents. Alongside her CAMHS experience, Siobhan has specialist background as an early years therapist across under-5s, neonatal and perinatal settings.
As with all our training, the session is neuroinclusive by design, with adjustments in place for neurodivergent practitioners attending.
This is a 2.5 hour training webinar for practitioners, recorded live on 24th April 2025.
