We know from research that neurodivergent people especially those who are autistic, ADHD, or AuDHD, often have a really tough time during menopause.
But here’s the thing that gets missed: menopause isn't just a hormonal shift that happens in the ovaries. It is a major neurological transition that completely changes how the brain operates, and those effects are felt right across the body.
Overview
In this session, Professor Julie Gamble-Turner and Dr Rachel Moseley will be breaking down exactly why this transition poses such unique challenges for neurodivergent brains. Drawing on their groundbreaking research and their recent book, they’ll explain the specific hurdles you might face and, most importantly, how you can actually be supported through it.
What you’ll learn
The brain-body connection: Why menopause is a neurological transition and how it uniquely impacts autistic and ADHD brains.
The daily reality: A look at the specific difficulties neurodivergent people face during this shift, moving past standard, generic menopause advice.
Practical support strategies: Evidence-based ways to navigate the transition and feel better supported at home and in healthcare settings.
Who should attend
Individuals: Anyone assigned female at birth who is autistic, ADHD, or AuDHD and navigating (or approaching) menopause.
Loved ones & allies: Partners, family members, or friends who want to understand what their person is going through and how to help.
Professionals: Healthcare providers, menopause coaches, therapists, and HR professionals looking to understand the intersection of neurodivergence and hormonal health.
Your workshop facilitators:
Professor Julie Gamble-Turner: A Health Psychologist, Menopause Coach, and Visiting Professor at Bournemouth University. Julie focuses on stress and health across our lifespans, with her recent research heavily targeting the menopausal experiences of autistic people.

Together, Julie and Rachel published some of the very first research at the intersection of autism and menopause, and they are the co-authors of the book, 'Autistic Menopause: A Guide to the Menopausal Transition for Autistic People and Those Supporting Them'.
