Are you a neurodivergent parent wondering why everyday tasks such as planning, organising, getting started on something, feel harder than they do for others?
Maybe you’re supporting a neurodivergent child while navigating your own executive function differences.
This talk explores how ADHD and autism present differently in women, and why so many have been overlooked, misdiagnosed, or misunderstood.
Overview
Executive function is the set of mental skills that help us plan, prioritise, remember, shift attention, and regulate emotions. This introductory session explores what executive function is, why ND parents struggle with executive function and how ND parents can create systems that support their brains, offering clarity, compassion, and practical tools for ND families.
What you’ll learn
A clear, accessible explanation of the part of the brain behind planning, focus, memory, and regulation.
Common difficulties for ADHD and autistic parents e.g. task initiation, overwhelm, sensory load, emotional intensity, and burnout.
Why transitions, routines, and stress can escalate quickly, and how to support both your EF and your child’s.
Practical strategies for externalising systems, reducing cognitive load, and designing environments that work for ND brains.
A chance to share and learn strategies from other ND parents
