AuDHD and Women

Are you a woman (or Assigned Female at Birth AFAB) wondering whether ADHD and autism might both be part of your story?

Perhaps you’re navigating a late diagnosis, questioning why life has always felt more effortful, or supporting women who don’t fit the stereotypes of autism and ADHD.

This talk explores how ADHD and autism present differently in women, and why so many have been overlooked, misdiagnosed, or misunderstood.

Overview

Until 2013, it wasn’t possible to receive a formal diagnosis of both autism and ADHD, despite research now showing that these conditions co-occur in up to 80% of cases. Historically, ADHD and autism have been understood through a male lens, leaving many women without recognition or support.

What you’ll learn

  1. The History of AuDHD

Understand the history of diagnosis and why women are often missed.

  1. How AuDHD presents in women:Explore common (but often missed) patterns across attention, executive functioning, social interaction, sensory processing, and emotional regulation.

Who should attend

This talk is suitable for women (or AFAB) exploring their own neurodivergence, those with a diagnosis of ADHD, autism, or AuDHD, and allies supporting or working with neurodivergent women. Family members, therapists, clinicians, and professionals seeking a deeper understanding of AuDHD in women (or AFAB) will also find this session valuable.
